Emilee believes the most important step in a partnership is forging a bond of trust between horse and rider, both on the ground and in the tack. Emilee teaches groundwork techniques that rely on body language rather than voice commands to communicate, and in this way horse and rider learn a common language with which to communicate. Emilee allows the horse to approach one question at a time and fully understand what is being asked of them, giving them the opportunity to figure it out on their own first, so when asked from the rider the horse already knows the correct answer.
Emilee’s breadth of knowledge when it comes to different types of horses has served her very well as a rider, trainer, and instructor. She has ridden the hot off-the-track Thoroughbreds that bring confidence and thrill to the cross-country course but tend to disappoint in the dressage arena, as well as the lazy-yet-gorgeous Irish Sport Horses that have given her the feel of that winning dressage score and the skillset to turn in a double-clear ride over fences.
